Inaugural Eco Film Festival a Success!

Nearly 50 people of all ages showed up on October 25 at the new Edina Fire Station #2 for the Inaugural Eco Film Festival hosted by the Morningside Neighborhood Association (MNA), Cool Planet and Project Earth of Edina High School

The Film Festival was the idea of MNA Steering Team member Pat Corcoran as a way to celebrate the 6 month date since the April 26, 2026 Community Earth Day Festival at Weber Park.

The purpose of both Festivals is to raise the public level of awareness and action on simple steps to take to build a healthy and sustainable future for our neighborhood, and the City of Edina.

Local environmental leaders presented action ideas and short video presentations on the following topics:

Home Energy Saving and Investments

Yard and Garden – Native Planting and Growing Food.

Transportation- Edina Bike Alliance, Electric School Buses

Advocacy-Empowering Neighbors and Policy Leaders

Youth Voice- Project Earth Environmental Club at Edina HS

Edina Climate Action Plan- Bio diesel used for snowplows and trucks

Refreshments were served along with a very generous donation of Indian food from Riwaaj Restaurant from near-by Centennial Lakes shopping mall.

Among the attendees were 3 candidates running for City Council and School Board who were acknowledged, as was Twila Singh and the Edina Fire Dept for their assistance in providing the beautiful Community Room for free. A benefit of being a recognized Neighborhood Association.

Four members of the MNA Steering Committee attended the event: Emily Aviles, Amir Missaghi, Mindy Ahler and Paul Thompson.

The Earth Day Festival team plans future educational events as we move toward April 25, 2027 and the next Community Festival during Earth Week.
